The City of Starkville Mississippi is the quintessential
college town. Being home to Mississippi State University (MSU),
the majority of Starkville's population base consists of people
either attending classes at, or working for the university. City
leaders credit MSU with the cities growth and economic stability.
It has also created a city with more than 42% of it residents having
either a bachelor's degree or graduate degree.
The university also gives the Starkville community
an activity base. MSU sponsors such activities as concerts, festivals,
live theatre and sporting events throughout the year.
Other local activities include golfing, skiing,
hiking, boating and visiting the nearby wildlife refuge. The city
is also home to several museums, theaters and even a bowling alley.
The citizens of Starkville claim that there is so much going on
in their city that they are never lacking for something to do.
